First of all, make sure that there is no strange characters in the filename.
Replace all spaces with underscores, remove all apostrophes etc.
Remove amppersands.
All those special characters could screw up the filesystem and render the file un-accessible.
Make sure that the file-name containes the manufacturer, equipment name and the type of document, ie OM for operators manual, SM for service manual etc.
It makes it a lot easier to catalog the files, and moving a miss-placed one.
Please don't upload raw scans, such as gif's, jpg's bmp's etc.
Either assemble them into a pdf, a djvu-file or compress them into a rar or zip archive. Even if it is only one file.
The same applies to executables, firmware etc.
Try to comment the file, so others can find out what's its for.
